WebJun 19, 2012 · IIRC, according to Ray Daniels in Designing Great Beers, it should be about .8 (1.050/40 IBUs). I've had pretty good success staying in that range. Of course there's always body to keep in mind, how much of the hops/IBUs are early/bittering versus flavor/aroma, etc., but that comes down to personal preference.
